Rivers: ‘We're just going to let Ray keep talking'

WALTHAMThe Celtics will be in Miami to open up their season against the Heat on Tuesday, but things are already heating up here in Boston.

Former Celtic Ray Allen -- who took his talents (and hard feelings) with him to South Beach -- hasn't exactly been hush-hush when it comes to how the way things ended for him Boston.

You know the rumors -- Allen and Rondo were on the outs, Allen was fed up with his diminished role in Boston, he didn't think Boston proved they wanted him back enough, etc. etc.

Well, a couple days ago Allen was at it again, talking to the Miami Herald about the history of the rift between him and Rajon Rondo. Here's the link from CSNNE.com's Phil Perry.

In short, back in 2009, Allen called Rondo to tell him the two of them were going to be traded to Phoenix if Rondo didn't change his ways. Allen says Rondo took it the wrong way.

On Tuesday, both Rondo and Rivers were asked about those comments. Rondo hadn't heard them. Neither did Rivers, who then added a little something extra.

"I didn't even know it, so I'm surprised right now," Rivers said. "I never knew that, I don't think the trade rumor is true.

"We're just going to let Ray keep talking, it's easier."

More fuel to the fire.
